NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta) scored his second game-winning overtime goal of the season as the Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team defeated Babson College, 5-4 in a New England Hockey Conference thriller on Saturday evening for the team's fifth consecutive win.

Kindrachuk's goal came at the 2:01 mark of overtime as he blocked a shot on the defensive end. After he blocked a shot on the defensive end, he gathered the puck, raced down to the offensive end and took a shot that was initially stopped, but backhanded home the rebound for the Albertus win.

Kindrachuk finished the night with two goals and an assist. He also scored the game-winner against Wesleyan in overtime on November 30.

The Falcons rallied from a two goal deficit for the win as Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio), Robert Barrasso (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Maksim Tseglnik (Moscow, Russia) scored goals in the clutch to secure the win for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Babson jumped on the board quickly with two goals in the first three minutes. The first came from Joseph Kramer just 1:36 into the first period as he put in a rebound off a shot from Nolan Woudenberg to make it a 1-0 game. Just 84 seconds later, Egan Schmitt made it a 2-0 game as he received a backhanded pass by the boards from Brendan Kennedy and was able to stuff it in the net.
  • Late in the first period at the 15:59 mark, Kindrachuk struck for his first goal of the game as Manning delivered a perfect pass from the boards just off to the right side of the net right into the slot and Kindrachuk finished to cut the deficit in half.
  • Once again, Babson scored early in the next period to regain its two-goal lead as Ryan Murphy delivered on a power-play goal as Wyatt George fed a pass just in front of the net to make it a 3-1 game once again.
  • The Albertus comeback bagan at the 7:13 mark of the second period as Kindrachuk stole the puck in the corner of the offensive end and sent a pass right to Manning's stick for a wide open shot which he buried home to make it a 3-2 game. Moments prior, Manning lost his stick and retrieved a replacement just before the goal.
  • Tseglnik, the reigning NEHC Rookie of the Week, tied the game up at the 13:08 mark as he took a long outlet pass from Manning, put the puck between his own legs and beat Babson goalie Nate Mueller to tie the game, 3-3.
  • In the third, Babson took the lead back as Kennedy took a pass from Sam Sibold in front of the net and put it home to make it a 4-3 game.
  • With less than a minute remaining in regulation, Friday's hero Barrasso once again delivered. With Albertus playing with an empty net, Babson attempted to clear the puck from Albertus offensive but it was deflected in the air. Barrasso caught the puck, put it down and fired a shot pass Mueller to tie the game with 39 seconds left and send the game into overtime.
  • Kindrachuk's heroics followed in overtime to secure the win and keep the Falcons undefeated at home at 7-0.
