Lenz Stops Career-High 48 Shots As Men's Ice Hockey Tops Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team rallied from an early one-goal deficit to defeat the Salve Regina University Seahawks, 2-1 in a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) game on Sunday afternoon.

Matt Lenz (Grapevine, Texas) finished with a career-high 48 saves in net. for the Falcons

Andrew Van Antwerp (Petoskey, Mich.) notched a goal in the first period and Jeremy Tremblay (Orford, Quebec) scored the game-winner late in the second period.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The two teams were scoreless over the first 12 minutes of the game until the Seahawks struck first with a goal from Matthew Brunton off of a rebound.
  • Just 23 seconds later, Van Antwerp scored his second goal of the off a pass from Paden Hicks (Kansas City, Mo.). It was the 11th assist for Hicks on the season, which leads the team.
  • Deep into the second period, Tremblay scored his first goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner after taking a pass from Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Quebec) at the 18:35 mark.
  • Lenz stonewalled the Seahawks over the final 47 minutes of game action stopping the final 41 shots he faced.
