HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons got on the board quickly in the first period when Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Quebec) found Hicks on an offensive rush skating towards the net. Hicks was able to backhand the puck through the legs of UMass-Boston goaltender, Tyler Bost to make it a 1-0 game at the 2:42 mark of the first period.
  • Albertus held the lead until the 17:23 mark of the first period when Jacob Roberson scored off a rebound to tie the game, 1-1.
  • The Beacons took their first lead of the game at the 8:27 mark of the second period as Jack Mortson tipped in a slapshot from Tyler Drummond right in front of the net to make it a 2-1 game.
  • Just over two minutes later, Manning tied the game up with his seventh goal of the season as he tipped in a shot from Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) that went between the legs of Bost.
  • The two teams went scoreless in the third period as Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped all 10 shots he faced from the Beacons as the teams went to overtime.
  • In overtime, UMass-Boston's Michael Krupinski split the Albertus defense and took a shot over Hale's shoulder for the game-winning goal.
