Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) and Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) contributed 16 goals to a 26-12 Falcon victory of Daniel Webster College Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn. The Falcons improve to 3-5 on the season and 2-4 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Daniel Webster College Eagles fall to 0-7 on the year and 0-6 in the GNAC.

It was a great day for Falcons to add to their stats as Albertus tied a season high 26 goals in a single game. Buck led all scorers with nine goals closely followed by his teammate Choiniere who netted seven.

Daniel Webster bounced out to an early lead scoring just seconds into the contest. Andrew Sousa found a cutting Dan Knupfer for a quick shot on goal that flew past the stick of goalkeeper Brandon Scicchitano (Norwalk, Conn.). Albertus responded quickly with four consecutive goals, two by Buck and two by Choiniere.

Daniel Webster was quick to gather themselves as they answered with two goals of their own just one minute apart 7:30, and 6:25 left in the first period. Sean Hamilton cashed in on the first and David Downie followed up less than a minute later. The Falcons led 11-4 just after one.

Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) was stellar as a faceoff specialist. Bennett won 29 of 38 attempts and was out there for 38 of 39 attempts for the Falcons. Bennett added three points to his day scoring two goals and dishing out an assist.

At the end of the first half, the score was 17-7 in favor of the Falcons, falling one goal shy of their program record 18 goals in one half.

The Eagles bounced back in the third, as their defense held the Falcons to only one goal. The Eagles outshot the Falcons 9-8 in the period. Daniel Webster cashed in three man-up goals in the third. Hamilton scored one, while Knupfer netted two. Knupfer led his team in points as he netted three goals and assisted on three. Anthony Cotoni had five points earning four points from assists and scoring one goal.

With 11:17 to go in the game, a name not regularly mentioned on the scoring arsenal for the Falcons netted just his second goal of the season. Austin Burns (Bethany, Conn.) picked up a ground ball in the defensive zone and went the distance dodging a few Eagles defenders and throwing into the back of the cage. Moments later, Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) connected with Burns for yet another goal scoring two on the day and recording three for the season. Moore accounted for four assists and four goals on the day.

The final score ended with the Falcons defeated Daniel Webster College 26-12. Albertus Magnus outshot the Eagles 59-38 for the game and won 40-33 on ground balls. Schiccitano did well between the pipes accounting for 10 saves, while Tucker Johns (Montville, Conn.) added two saves of his own.

The Falcons will take on Becker College on April 7th at 4:00 a game that was rescheduled from March 31st. The game will be played at Becker College.
