Men's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: Mt. St. Vincent & Norwich

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team scored a 19-13 non-conference win versus Emerson at home last week. The Falcons won their second straight game at Celentano Field to improve to 2-2 on the year. Justin Bennet paced the AMC attack once again this spring with his eight markers. The third-year midfielder also contributed two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Defensively, senior defenseman Adam Earl and junior midfielder Matt Mueller both caused five turnovers apiece for the Falcons. In net, sophomore Falcon sophomore goalkeeper Jack Kerner made 15 saves in over 55 minutes of action to earn his second win of the year.

This Week: AMC travels to face Mount St. Vincent in midweek non-conference action before hosting Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play over the weekend.

Series History: Wednesday's contest will be the first-ever between the two squads.

Scouting CMSV: The Dolphins are in the midst of a five-game losing streak and are 1-5 at home this spring. Mt. St. Vincent is averaging over eight goals per game on offense and surrendering more than 15 tallies per game. In the second half this year, CMSV has been outscored 61-27. Germain Ngaba leads the team in goals (16), assists (5), points (21), ground balls (64) and face-offs won (73). Michael Puchalski has netted 12 markers this season. In net, Ben Gashi has made 77 saves to go along with a .472 save percentage.

Last Season Versus the Cadets: Norwich scored a 10-4 win at home versus Albertus Magnus last spring. The Falcons opened the scoring with a goal less than a minute into the contests before the Cadets responded with nine unanswered goals over the next three quarters. Down the stretch, the Falcons outscored the hosts, 3-1, during the final 15 minutes.

Scouting Norwich: The Cadets begin the week coming off a nine-goal win versus Maine Maritime. Prior to facing the Falcons on Saturday, Norwich will host New England College. In net this year, Ian Kriger is 1-5 with 57 saves, a .467 save percentage and a 12.88 goals-against average. Defensively, sophomores Zach Adler and Thomas Carlson each have a team-high six caused turnovers. Jack Dwyer has 63 face-offs this year and has added 13 ground balls. Offensively, senior Ryan McCarthy has a team-best 12 goals and 19 points, while Josh Jenkins has found the back of the net eight times.

Albertus Notes
- Junior midfielder Justin Bennet scored eight goals and added an assist to lead Albertus Magnus past visiting Emerson last week in non-conference action. In the contest, he also added one face-off win, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. The eight goals marks a season-high for Bennet as does the nine points. He netted four of his markers in the first half and four in the second half, highlighted by a string of two unanswered tallies early in the fourth quarter.
- In goal, Kerner has made 57 saves to go along with a .588 save percentage and a 10.92 goals-against average. He has made 15 or more saves in a game twice this season.
- Defensively, Earl leads the squad with 15 caused turnovers, while Bennet has seven and Mueller has six.
- In the face-off circle, Bennet is 47-of-86 this year with a team-best 45 ground balls.
-Bennet also leads the team in goals (18) and points (21). Junior Greg Buck has added 10 goals, while Brennan Moore has recorded a team-best five assists.
