Men's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: Anna Maria & Lasell

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team went 0-2 in GNAC play last week, falling on the road to both Johnson & Wales and Saint Joseph's (Maine). Albertus Magnus lost to JWU, 16-8, in midweek action as the Wildcats pulled away in the third quarter with six goals, while keeping the guests off the board. In the contest, it was a two-headed attack for the guests as juniors Justin Bennet and Greg Buck both netted three goals and added an assist. Over the weekend, a late Falcon rally came up short in a 15-13 loss against the Monks. The Falcons made an impressive offensive push in the closing eight minutes as the visitors, aided by a two-minute locked in penalty on the Monks, netted four unanswered goals to cut their deficit down to two. Down the stretch, SJC was able to hold on for the win.

This Week: The Falcons have a pair of home GNAC games, welcoming Anna Maria and Lasell to New Haven. AMC starts out with a midweek clash against the AMCATS before hosting the Lasers on Saturday.

Last Year Versus the AMCATS: The Falcons scored a 25-3 victory on the road against Anna Maria last spring. Buck led the way for AMC with six goals and three assists, while Bennet contributed three markers and three helpers. Defensively, three Albertus Magnus players had two caused turnovers apiece and the guests outshot Anna Maria, 53-40.

Last Season at Lasell:  The Lasers topped the Falcons, 18-6, in Boston last year. In the tilt, Lasell outshot Albertus Magnus, 62-16, and the Falcons turned the ball over 34 times. The only returner to score in the game for AMC was Bennet with one goal to go along with two ground balls.

Albertus Notes:
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Kerner made 28 saves to go along with a .459 save percentage in a pair of conference losses for the Falcons last week. In a midweek setback at Johnson & Wales, Kerner made 18 saves in 45 minutes of play and had a .563 save percentage. Over the weekend, he stopped 10 shots in a 15-13 loss at Saint Joseph's (Maine). Kerner is a two-time GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week this season and he has made 122 saves to go along with a .575 save percentage and a 12.27 goals-against averge.
- Sophomore attack Brennan Moore scored seven goals and added two assists in a pair of GNAC losses for the Falcons last week. He began the week with two goals and one ground ball in a 16-8 setback at Johnson & Wales. Over the weekend, he registered a season-best seven points in a loss at Saint Joseph's (Maine). Against the Monks, Moore netted five goals to go along with two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
-In the face-off circle, Bennet is 75-of-146 with a team-high 73 ground balls. Tommy Gillen has won 16 and scooped 13 ground balls.
- Defensively, senior Adam Earl has a team-high 29 caused turnovers, while junior Matt Mueller has 10 and Bennet has contributed nine.
- On the offensive end, Bennet leads the team in goals and points with 28 and 36, respectively. Buck has chipped in 23 goals and Moore has a team-best 10 assists.
