Men's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: Mitchell & Rivier

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team went 1-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at home last week, topping Anna Maria, 18-5, before falling to Lasell over the weekend. Albertus Magnus enter the week with a 4-6 overall record and 1-4 mark in league play. In the win over the AMCATS, junior Greg Buck led the Falcons with seven goals and two assists. His fourth strike of the contest made him the first player in program history to register 100 career goals. Against the Lasers, three different Falcons scored in the loss.

This Week: The Falcons host in-state rival Mitchell in midweek non-conference play before welcoming Rivier to New Haven in GNAC action over the weekend.

Last Spring Versus Mitchell: The Falcons scored a 10-9 come-from-behind win versus the Mariners at New London High School last April. In the contest, Albertus Magnus erased a two-goal halftime deficit with three goals each in both the third and fourth quarters. Justin Bennet had two goals for the Falcons in the win.

Last Year Against Rivier: The Raiders netted a 15-7 triumph versus the Falcons last spring. Bennet led the charge once again for AMC with two goals and two assists. In a losing effort, goalkeeper Jack Kerner turned aside 17 shots for Albertus Magnus.

Albertus Notes:
- Buck scored eight goals and added two assists as the Falcons went 1-1 in GNAC play last week. He did most of his damage in an 18-5 victory at home versus Anna Maria. Buck scored seven markers to go along with two helpers against the AMCATS. His fourth strike of the game in the first half made him the first player in program history to record 100 career goals. Buck is tied for the team lead with 31 goals this season and he has a team-best three man-up markers.
-In his first collegiate start, freshman goalkeeper John Brunetti made a career-high 22 saves in an 18-5 victory against Anna Maria. Over the weekend, he turned aside five shots in just under 20 minutes of action versus Lasell. In total, he amassed 27 saves to go along with a .750 save percentage and a 6.81 goals-against average.
- In the cage, Kerner is 3-6 this year with 137 saves, .568 save percentage and a 12.98 goals-against average. In just under 120 minutes of action, Brunetti is 1-0 with a .685 save percentage, 37 saves and an 8.55 goals-against average.
- In the face-off circle, Bennet is 97-of-184 this season with a team-leading 96 ground balls. Sophomore Tommy Gillen is 19-fo-73 this season with 12 ground balls.
- Bennet is tied with Buck for the team lead in goals. Bennet also leads the squad in points with 42.
-Defensively, senior Adam Early has a team-leading 32 caused turnovers to go along with three goals and nine assists this season. Matt Mueller is enjoying a successful spring with 19 caused turnovers, while Jon Gravius has caused 16 of his own.
