Bennet, Buck Earn NEILA Academic All-Region

New Haven, Conn. – Seniors Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) and Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team were named as members of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All Region teams, announced earlier today.

Bennet, who was named to the All-Conference Second Team last week, had another record-breaking year for the Falcons, scoring 26 goals and adding a career-high 17 assists for 43 points. He set a new single-season program record for ground balls with 184 and went 199-of-384 in the face-off circle. Earlier this season against Mass. Maritime, Bennet collected his 100th career point. He also earned his 500th career face-off win against GNAC foe Emmanuel back on April 21. Bennet leaves the program at the all-time leader in groundballs, face-off wins, face-off percentage and games played.

Buck left his mark on the men's lacrosse program over the past four years and leaves as the all-time leader in points with 200 and goals with 144. This season, he led the offensive unit in points (52), shots (135), goals (36) and shots on goals (77). Defensively, Buck registered a career-high nine caused turnovers as well as recorded a career-high 49 ground balls. The senior attack finished his career scoring his 200th career point against Johnson & Wales back on April 25th.

Forty-two student-athletes from 22 different Division 3 institutions met the criteria, which required that nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology led all institutions with six candidates this year, while fellow Division 3 member Amherst College had five selections, a number matched by Division 1 Ivy League member Brown University.

Southern New Hampshire University led five Division 2 schools with four of the nine honorees hailing from their institution.

Division 1 was represented by 24 student-athletes from 10 different NEILA member schools.
