Buzzards Bay, Mass. - Junior James May (Branford, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team collected a team-high two points, including a goal and an assist, as the Falcons fell on the road to Mass. Maritime, 21-2, on Wednesday evening in non-conference play at Clean Harbors Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mass. Maritime came out firing on all cylinders, but senior Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) turned in an exceptional effort between the pipes, turning away the first five shots on goal. With the score tied at 0-0, the hosts scored the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 edge heading into the final 15 minutes of the half.
The second quarter saw chances for both, though Mass. Maritime ran the score to 5-0 before Jordan Garguilo (West Haven, Conn.) got Albertus on the board, 5-1. With the clock winding down, senior Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) and Mykel Stinson (Bridgeport, Conn.) brought the Falcons to within four, 8-3, but a goal from Franklin Ragge gave the Buccaneers a five-goal cushion, 8-3, at the half.
However from that point on, Mass. Maritime put the game out of reach outscoring the Falcons 13-1 to secure the home victory and improve to 4-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior Niko Ames (Sunderland, Mass.) led the Falcons with four ground balls as well as recorded a caused turnover.
- Junior Austin Kozak (West Haven, Conn.) was 3-of-15 in the circle with a ground ball and a caused turnover while Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) finished 2-of-9 in face-offs.
- Albertus Magnus was 6-of-29 in face-offs and 1-of-0 in extra man opportunities.
- Mass. Maritime outshot the Falcons by a 56-15 margin as well as won the ground ball battle 50-15.
- Mass. Maritime's Edward Powers and Benjamin Avakian each recorded a team-best three goals, while Powers added three assists to finish out the evening with six points.
- Mass. Maritime was 23-of-29 in face-offs with four violations.
- The Buccaneers caused nine of the Falcons' 25 turnovers.
- May scored the Falcons' only goal in the second half on a man-up opportunity at the 4:41 mark in the fourth.
- Stinson's goal was on a man-down opportunity in the second quarter.
