Men’s Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day Against Norwich

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse celebrated its Senior Day before its 19-7 home setback against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich University on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field.

The Falcons honored Derek Ralston (Guilford, Conn.), Noah Silva (Westerly, R.I.), Tyler Landsiedel (Stamford, Conn.), Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.), Andrew Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.), and Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) for their dedication to the team over their tenures. In today's game, Walsh broke the single-season saves record for AMC, ending the day with 253 stops this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cadets opened today's game with the first three goals before the Falcons halted the run at the 3:11 mark. After receiving a pass from Toro, Ralston netted AMC's first goal on Senior Day to make it a 3-1 Albertus deficit. Norwich concluded the frame with a goal with 1:04 remaining to send the Cadets into the second up 4-1.

Norwich ended the second quarter with all of the goals in the frame. The Cadets recorded six unanswered tallies in the period to take a 10-1 advantage into the halftime break.

Cody Walczak (Killingworth, Conn.) kicked off the second half with a goal 1:36 into the third. Zaheim Wilkins (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) began his impressive day with an assist on the Walczak score.

Following a Norwich goal, Shane Kelly (Madison, Conn.) netted his eighth goal of the spring at the 9:30 mark to cut the AMC deficit to 11-3.

The Cadets scored the following three goals before the Falcons answered with a 3-1 run by the 2:43 mark of the third quarter. Wilkins scored all three goals over the Albertus surge, sniping the corner of the cage on all three strikes. Norwich ended the run with a goal 30 seconds before the end of the frame, sending the Falcons into the fourth quarter trailing 16-6.

The Cadets tallied three of the four goals in the fourth quarter, sealing a 19-7 road GNAC win. Wilkins concluded his stellar day with a man-up strike on an assist from Kelly in the fourth.
