Falcons Have Seven Game Winning Streak Snapped by Emerson 4-0

Boston, MA - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer team had their seven game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Emerson College.  Emerson College used a pair of header goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead over the Falcons, eventually earning a 4-0 victory over Albertus.

Emerson College would find the back of the net in the 16th minute of play when senior Mike Giles (Wakefield, RI) finished a header off an assist by freshman Jacob Lawrence (Cliffton, VA).  Senior Eric Dabdoub (Monterrey, Mexico) would finish a header of his own in the 23rd minute on a pass from Giles making the score 2-0 going into halftime.

Emerson increased the lead to 3-0 on a goal by freshman Alex Sypsomos (Bangkok, Thailand) when he shot from the center of the 18 yard box to the lower right corner.  Giles finished the scoring in the 68th minute when he shot from the center of the goal box off a rebound of a shot by Lawrence.  Albertus would battle in the second half but saw two goals called back by offsides calls.

The loss is the first in GNAC play for the Falcons (7-2, 2-1 GNAC) who hadn't lost a game since September 1st.  Emerson College improves to 3-4, 2-1 GNAC on the season.

Albertus will host Westfield State University for a 4:00pm kickoff on Wednesday.
