The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team downed Mount Ida 2-0 in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament Quaterfinal contest on Monday afternoon.

Senior Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.) scored both Falcon goals to lift Albertus to its 15th victory of the season as the Falcons are undefeated in their last 15 games.

Howard scored his 20th and 21st goals of the year as he leads the GNAC in that category. Howard's game winner came in the fourth minute, giving Albertus an early lead. He took a pass down field from defender Chris Long (West Haven, Conn.) and took the goalkeeper one-on-one before scoring.

Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) assisted on Howard's second goal of the contest in the 74th minute to record his NCAA-leading 20th assist of the season. With the helper, Zapata becomes only the 29th player in the history of Division III men's soccer to record 20 or more assists in a single-season. Zapata currently leads the NCAA (DI, DII and DIII) with his assist tally.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) faced two shots on net and made two saves for the Falcons in 90 minutes of play.

The Falcons outshot Mount Ida 17-6 on the afternoon, including an 8-2 clip in the first half.

Howard led all players with eight shots, including four on goal, in the Falcons' 10th GNAC postseason victory as they move to 10-12-3 all-time in GNAC Tournament play.

Albertus will host Norwich University on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Celentano Field. Norwich defeated Lasell 3-2 in double-overtime on Monday afternoon to advance to the semifinals.
