Senior midfielder Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) scored three goals as the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team defeated visiting Emmanuel College 3-2.  The game started off in the rain and was extremely physical throughout with 27 fouls and nine cards being called throughout the contest.

Barrett would start the scoring in the 34th minute when he finished a ball off the keeper after freshman midfielder Ben Colter (Guilford, Conn.) sent a ball into the box that was bobbled by senior Emmanuel keeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.).  The first half ended with a physical challenge in the box knocking freshman Albertus keeper Griffin Volta (Orange, Conn.) from the game with just a minute to go in the half.  Freshman keeper Adam Miedzinski (Hamden, Conn.) came in to replace Volta for the remainder of the contest.

The second half saw the rain subside but the physical play remain.  Barrett would score on a penalty kick in the 55th minute following an Emmanuel foul in the box to give the Falcons the 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) delivered an accurate corner kick that was bouncing around in the box before Barrett got a piece of the ball, completing the hat trick on the day for the 3-0 lead.

Emmanuel continued their pressure on the Miedzinski and found the back of the net when junior midfielder David Field (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) scored from 22 yards out on a strike into the upper right 90 to make the score 3-1.

Field would place another good strike in the 77th minute but Miedzinski would make the diving stop.  Field would find the back of the net in the 82nd minute following a blocked Falcon shot and subsequent Emmanuel counter the other way.  Field dribbled past a defender and found the back of the net to make the score 3-2 with 8 minutes remaining.  The remaining eight minutes continued the hard-fought play with five cards being called but no goals being scored.

The Falcons held the 25-15 shot advantage in the match while corner kicks were even with eight on each side.

Albertus improves to 9-3-2, 3-1-1 GNAC while Emmanuel drops to 3-6-2, 2-3 GNAC on the season.  The Falcons return to action on Monday when they host GNAC opponent Mount Ida College at Celentano Field for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
