
Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team went 1-1 in conference play last week, defeating Anna Maria, 3-1, on the road before falling to Norwich, 1-0, on senior day at home over the weekend. Albertus Magnus enters the final week of the regular season with a 9-6-1 overall record and a 4-4-1 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Falcons have earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament and will travel to play fourth-seeded Suffolk in the opening round on Saturday. Three different players scored for Albertus Magnus in the victory against the AMCATS.
This Week: The Falcons will close out the regular season on Tuesday with a road non-conference showdown against MCLA before opening postseason play on Saturday at Suffolk in the First Round of the GNAC Tournament.

Last Fall Against the Trailblazers: Albertus Magnus fell to MCLA, 2-0, at home in the regular season finale in 2015. The guests opened the scoring in the 38th minute on a header off a corner at the far post and added an insurance tally midway through the second half.

Earlier This Year Versus the Rams: In the conference opener for both teams, Suffolk defeated Albertus Magnus, 1-0, in New Haven in mid-September. The Falcons were without senior standout Alex Zapata in the contest. Suffolk senior forward Alberto Bittan netted the game-winning goal early in the second half for the Rams. Joe Russo made seven saves in a losing effort. On the opposite end, Kyle Van Cleef turned aside all four shots he faced to earn his first clean sheet and win of the year.

- Albertus Magnus is 9-6-1 overall and has earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament with a 4-4-1 mark in league play. On the road this fall, AMC is 4-3. Dating back to 2010, the Falcons have won six of the last eight meetings with Suffolk.
- Last season, the Falcons won two road games during the GNAC Tournament to advance to the GNAC Championship. The team is making their 21st appearance in the league tournament and their 17th in a row. AMC is 1-2-0 all-time against Suffolk in the GNAC Tournament. Albertus Magnus has amassed a 16-17-4 mark in the tournament.
- Junior Justyn Broderick is enjoying a successful fall campaign, as he leads the team in goals (6), assists (5), points (17) shots (39), shots on goal (20) and game-winning goals (3). Senior Matt Mueller is tied with Broderick with a team-best six goals, which match a career-high for the fourth-year midfielder.
- Alex Zapata has had a record-breaking year for AMC, registering 12 points thanks to five goals and two assists. He currently ranks sixth in program history with 75 points, sixth in career goals with 28 and eighth in assists with 19.
- Joe Russo has been solid in goal all year for the Falcons and he is 9-6-1 with 70 saves, a .787 save percentage and a 1.21 goals-against average.
- Albertus Magnus is 6-4 in one-goal games this fall. 11 of the 15 Albertus Magnus games this season have been decided by one goal of fewer. In overtime, the Falcons are 2-0-1 in 2016.
