East Boston, Mass. – The No. 5 seed Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team saw their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 setback against fourth-seeded Suffolk in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament Quarterfinal action at James A Satori Stadium inside East Boston Memorial Park.

The Falcons (9-8-1) were blanked by the Rams (9-9) for the second time this autumn and suffered their second straight road loss.

Suffolk sophomore midfielder Jordan Casey scored both of the Ram goals, netting one in each half, to help the hosts advance to the conference semifinals for just the third time in program history and first since 2010.

Late in the opening half the hosts opened the scoring with what would prove to be the game-winner. Senior midfielder Aaron Haggas sent an attempt in, but it was turned away by Falcon sophomore netminder Joe Russo (North Haven, Conn.). Casey picked up the rebound and Russo's gloves couldn't make the grab as his fourth strike of the season gave Suffolk a one-goal edge in the 29th minute.

Albertus Magnus was unable to break through and trailed by one heading into the break.

Early in the second half, the guests peppered Ram freshman goalkeeper Jon Brodeur with a barrage of shots. Brodeur made three saves in the first eight minutes of the second stanza to help the hosts maintain their advantage. He stopped one shot from AMC senior midfielder Matt Mueller (Cheshire, Conn.) and two blasts off the foot of Falcon senior midfielder Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.).

Casey would strike against in the 80th minute with an insurance goal to give Suffolk a 2-0 lead. He converted feed from Jarrett Davis after a fumble inside the Falcon box confused the visiting defense and Casey was able to bury his fifth tally of the autumn.

In net, Russo turned aside nine shots in a losing effort for Albertus Magnus. On the opposite side, Brodeur made eight saves to register his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Offensively, Zapata had a team-high five shots for the Falcons and Mueller had three of his own.

Suffolk held a 19-14 advantage in shots and the hosts took 10 corners compared to just four for the guests.
