WINTHROP, Mass. – After posting three noteworthy performances in goal for Albertus Magnus College men's soccer last week, freshman David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. 

Lucero was outstanding in three games last week, as the freshman started all three and posted a 2-1-0 record. Lucero made 16 saves and maintained a stellar 0.67 goals-against average with one shutout over 270 minutes. The East Haven, Conn., native began his week with three saves and one goal allowed in a 2-1 AMC win over Hunter College on Monday. On Thursday, he allowed just one goal on a penalty kick while making six saves in a defensive battle at Endicott College. Lucero ended the week with a 3-0 shutout win over Regis (Mass.) College in the Falcons' GNAC opener on Saturday.

Albertus hits the pitch again on Wednesday, Sept. 14, to play Lasell University in home conference action at 4:30 p.m. at Celentano Field.
