Lucero Recognized by GNAC for Third Straight Week, Named Goalkeeper and Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – It's a three-peat for Albertus Magnus College men's soccer freshman David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.), as the goalie earned weekly recognition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for the third consecutive week. Lucero was tabbed the conference's Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week this afternoon after outstanding outings against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Emmanuel (Mass.) College.

Lucero continued his outstanding freshman campaign this past week, allowing zero goals with 11 saves over 180 minutes to lead the Falcons to a win and a draw in GNAC play. The freshman first tallied eight saves on the road against St. Joseph to help AMC earn a hard-fought scoreless draw against its in-state rival. Lucero then went 3-for-3 on save opportunities to earn his fifth shutout of the season in Albertus' 1-0 away triumph over Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons hit the pitch again on Wednesday, Sept. 28, for a key GNAC battle against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University at Celentano Field. The opening kickoff against the Wildcats is slated for 7 p.m.
