WINTHROP, Mass. - After a stellar week for the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team, freshman Yahya Kardad (Wallingford, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon. 

Kardad finished last week tied for the team lead with two points and one goal to go along with seven shots, as the Falcons split a pair of GNAC matches. Kardad started both games for AMC, netting Albertus' lone goal against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on Wednesday in a hard-fought 2-1 Albertus setback. The freshman also finished Saturday's 2-0 Falcons' win over Colby-Sawyer College tied for the team lead with four shots. 

The men's soccer team will hit the road for a conference showdown against the Blazers of Elms College on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. on the Timothy J. Leary Field in Chicopee, Mass.
