Men’s Soccer Collects Win Over Colby-Sawyer, 1-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team defeated the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon, 1-0.

Kelvin Cortez (Meriden, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season when he converted a penalty kick in the first half to be the eventual game winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED

At the 8:40 minute mark, a penalty kick was called off a Charger handball. The Falcons made their mark when Cortez struck the ball to the lower right side for a 1-0 advantage.

The Chargers increased their attack in the first half, sending six shots to sophomore goalkeeper David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.), three of which were on frame. 

Albertus and Colby-Sawyer fought for the offensive advantage in the second half with each team striking eight shots. The Falcons recorded two on target while the Chargers saw none. Albertus also recorded nine corner kicks in the second half.
