WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - A goal from Lorenzo Lauria (New Haven, Conn.) in the 82nd minute tied the game for the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team as it played to a 1-1 draw against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a battle between two of the top teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
Lauria's goal came just three minutes after USJ broke a scoreless tie.
Both teams remain unbeaten in GNAC play as they are tied for second in the conference. For Albertus, it matches its second best start in conference play in program history, tying the 2012 team.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus put three shots on net in the first half that were stopped by USJ goalkeeper Will Slayton. The Blue Jays had just one shot on net which was handled by David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.).

Midway through the second half, USJ had a scoring opportunity, but a cross from the Blue Jays was cleared by Gabirel Paglia to keep the game scoreless. Lucero stopped a strike in the 77th minute from Mario Milardo and the rebound was kicked out of play before USJ could get a second shot off.

USJ got on the board in the 79th minute as Milardo received a cross in the box from Damir Cirikovic and put it in the back of the net to put the Blue Jays up, 1-0.

Just three minutes later, Lauria scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season as he took a shot from the left side and curled a shot out of the reach of Slayton to make it a 1-1 game.
