Falcons Fall to Brooklyn 8-1 in Season Opener

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team fell to Brooklyn College 8-1 in the Falcons' 2012 season opener. The Falcons' lone set victory came in No. 1 doubles as Marcus Artaiz and Tim Gabbard won the top-doubles' position, 8-5.

Brooklyn's victory is the first for the Bulldogs this season as they move to 1-3 on the year. The Falcons open the season 0-1.

Artaiz came close to his first victory of the season but fell to Brooklyn's Matthew Micharlsen by scores of 6-4, 6-1. In No. 2 singles, Gabbard fell behind 6-3 in the opener before taking the second frame 6-4.  Brooklyn's Anthony Chan took the tie breaker of the match 1-0 (11-9) over Gabbard.

Brooklyn won No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles each by a pair of 6-0 victories. Albertus' Elvis Santana fell in his first match of the season as Marvin Gill won the No. 4 singles' match 6-3, 6-0.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, March 25 at Lesley. That match start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
