The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team fell in their season opener to Yeshiva on Wednesday night. Yeshiva is now 5-2 on the season, as the Falcons moved to 0-1.
In singles play, Pete Zacharias, Marcus Artaiz, and Elvis Santana put up battles against their opponents. Artaiz's single match against Charles Saka of Yeshiva went into a third set as Artiaz won the second set of the three(6-1, 3-6, 7-5). Pete Zacharias and Santana also played two close sets; Zacharias going 6-4 and 6-3 against Jeremy Seftel and Santana going 6-3 and 6-2 against Shmuel Rosenblatt.
Despite the Falcons being swept in singles play, they had one victory in doubles. Zacharias and Artaiz defeated Seftel and Saka 8-5. Bell and Mathew Mezzei also played a close match, with Yeshiva pulling out the win 8-7(7-3).
The Falcon's will travel to Norwich to play on Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 P.M.
