Falcons Win 5-4 Thriller at Tennis Center over CCNY

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team used a 5-4 victory over CCNY on Sunday to improve to an impressive 7-2 on the year.

The match was tied 4-4 before #3 singles completed, which ultimately decided the match.  Freshman Jeff Pellegrino (Meriden, Conn.) pulled out a big win for the Falcons in three sets to secure the match for Albertus.

In doubles' play, the Falcons took two of three doubles' matches to jump out to a 2-1 lead.

Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.) and Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) won #2 doubles by a score of 8-5 after the Falcons lost #1 doubles.

Dan Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) and teammate Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) went on to win #3 doubles by a commanding score of 8-2.

Suleski won #2 singles for Albertus by taking a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Elvis Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) won #6 singles in a close battle, 7-5, 6-2.

Pellegrino then secured the match victory with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 thrilling win.

The Falcons will finish the 2015 campaign on Monday, April 27 when they travel to Mitchell College in New London, Conn. to take on the Mariners in a 3:00 p.m. non-conference match-up.
