Falcons Finish 2015 Campaign with Shutout over Mitchell

The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Mitchell College on Monday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams at the Mack Tennis Courts.

Mitchell forfeited points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, though it had little bearing on the match.

Albertus Magnus won both doubles points by 8-1 finals before taking all but one singles point in straight sets.

The Falcons finish their 2015 campaign with an 8-2 overall record, possibly their best record in program history and the most wins under the leadership of head coach Bob Migliorini.

Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.), who was recently named to the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Second Team, defeated Michael Edwards by a final of 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot, while Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.) earned a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

Freshman Jeff Pellegrino (Meriden, Conn.) dropped only one game in a victory at No. 3 singles, while Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) topped Anthony Drake (Wethersfield, Conn.) in a pair of 6-1 sets in No. 4 singles.

Dan Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) battled back from a set down to edge Zack Rocheleau (Winchendon, Mass.) 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 5 singles' action.

Mitchell finishes the season 6-7 on the year.
