Boston, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's team defeated Wheelock, 7-2, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Sportsmen's Tennis Club.

The Falcons bounced back from a non-conference setback to improve to 4-1 overall, while the Wildcats dropped to 2-5 on the spring.

In doubles action, AMC took two of three matches to jump out to an early edge heading into singles play. The tandem of senior Cerrone Bell (New Haven, Conn.) and junior Daniel Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2, while the duo of freshman Steven Woodfield (Naugatuck, Conn.) and senior Ahmed Adbulateef (Hamden, Conn.) blanked their opponents, 8-0, at No. 3.

In singles play, Albertus Magnus took five of the six matches to earn the triumph. Four of the Falcon victories came in straight sets. Senior Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.), Constantinidi, Woodfield and Abdulateef all won in two sets at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively. At No. 1, senior Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) outlasted his counterpart for a three-set win.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Thursday, April 14, with a home non-conference match versus in-state rival Mitchell that is slated to begin at 3:00 pm. The Falcons topped the Mariners, 9-0, at home and 7-2 on the road last spring.
