Mahwah, N.J. – The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team fell on the road to Ramapo College, 9-0, on Saturday morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the RC Athletic Center in the league opener for both squads.

With the loss, the Falcons move to 5-2 on the spring, while the Roadrunners improve to 10-2 with their fourth victory in a row.

In doubles action, the hosts took the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 convincingly, while battling at No. 3. The tandem of freshman Steven Woodfield (Naugatuck, Conn.) and senior Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) dropped a nailbiter, 8-6, to Matt Talmage and Phil Fuster. The setback was the first of the season in doubles play for the Falcon duo.

In singles play, Ramapo won all six matches in straight sets en route to the conference triumph. At No. 1, senior Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) fell, 6-4, 6-0, while junior Daniel Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) lost, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4.

Albertus Magnus returns to action later today with a road conference clash at Rutgers-Camden that is slated to get underway at 4:30 pm. Last season, the Falcons blanked the Scarlett Raptors at home.
