FALCONS TABBED FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL 

The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team was picked to finish fourth in the South Division in the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

The Falcons, who are coming off a record of 7-4 last year, earned eight points to finish seven points behind third-place Rutgers-Newark. Rutgers-Camden finished second on the South side with 19 points while Ramapo received all seven first-place votes to land at the top spot in the South Division with 28 points.

LAST SEASON RECAP

  • The Falcons ended the year with a 7-4 overall record and just missed qualifying for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament with a 0-3 mark in league action.
  • Head Coach Bob Migliorini guided AMC to the second-most wins in school history.
  • During the year, the Falcons posted a 3-1 record at home and shutout victories versus York and Mitchell.

YEAR END HONORS

  • The Falcons landed Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) on the first team and freshman Steven Woodfield (Naugatuck, Conn.) on the second team in singles.
  • For the first time in program history, Albertus Magnus also had a major award winner with Woodfield being tabbed as the GNAC Rookie of the Year.
  • Senior Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) represented the squad on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

MEN'S TENNIS WINS THIRD STRAIGHT SISTER CHARLES MARIE BRANTL O.P. AWARD
For the third consecutive year, the Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team has won the Sister Charles Marie Brantl O.P. Award. The Sister Charles Marie Brantl, O.P. Award is presented to the Albertus Magnus varsity team with the highest cumulative Grade Point Average from the previous academic year. The team had a 3.39 cumulative GPA for the 2015-16 academic year and saw three student-athletes receive Dean's List recognition.
