WINTHROP, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team was picked to finish fifth in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll was released on Monday morning and was voted on by the league's six head coaches.

The Falcons played three matches in the fall semester, going 1-2, with an 8-1 victory over Wentworth College on October 10th. The Falcons will play nine matches in the spring season, with five against conference opponents. Due to the pandemic, the Falcons played in only one exhibition match this past season, defeating the Warriors of Vaughn College by a final score of 8-1. In 2019, the Falcons went 1-2, again beating the Vaughn Warriors by a final score of 9-0, before the pandemic shut down the spring season.

The Falcons return seven players from last season, including graduate student Nick Tagliaferri (Hamden, Conn.), seniors Zak Levine (Hamden, Conn.), Eric Brown (New Haven, Conn.), Allessandro Proscino (Hamden, Conn.), and Alex Hale (Wolcott, Conn.), juniors Julien-Jean Baptiste (Montreal, Quebec) and Rockenson Charles (New London, Conn.). In addition, the Falcons welcome newcomers Elijah Rious (New Haven, Conn.) and Fernando Ruiz (Hartford, Conn.).

With their experienced squad, the Falcons were picked for a fifth-place finish in the 2022 season, securing 16 points. Eastern Nazarene took the top slot in the rankings, garnering 34 points and four of the possible six first-place votes. Colby-Sawyer College followed close behind, with 30 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Norwich University and Regis College (Mass.) took the middle slots in the rankings, with 21 and 18 points, respectively. Lesley College finished at the bottom of the poll, with seven points.
