Falcons Open Season With 3-0 Win at Saint Joe's Brooklyn

In their first match of the 2012 season, the Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team swept Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-8) as Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) led the Falcons with 12 kills.

Charamut, a sophomore-transfer from Eastern Connecticut State University, tallied 12 kills in 21 attempts in his first match in an Albertus uniform. Fellow newcomer, Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico), dished out 25 assists in his first match as a Falcon, while he added four service aces.

Saint Joseph's College tallied just eight kills and hit -.222 on the afternoon.

The Falcons dominated at the beginning of each set and never looked back as they controlled the match.

Albertus registered 11 kills in 19 attempts in the first set, while holding Saint Joe's to just two. Charamut tallied five kills in the set as Torres dished out 10 assists.

Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) contributed with five kills, six service aces and six digs to lead the Falcons to the victory in their season opener.
