Falcons Improve to 4-0 with 3-0 Win over Yeshiva

In their 2012 home opener, the Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team downed Yeshiva 3-0 (25-22, 25-8, 25-16) led by 34 assists from Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico).

With the victory, the Falcons improve to 4-0 on the year, while Yeshiva falls to 2-7.

Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) led the Falcons with 12 kills, while Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) added 10 kills in 21 attempts along with a team-best 18 digs.

Today's first set was a battle as the score was tied three times before the Falcons went ahead 14-10 on a side out, back-to-back kills and a service ace by Chase Brinton (Bethany, Conn.). Yeshiva was able to get back within one at 20-19 as Brinton recorded an attack error. The Falcons clinched the set victory on a kill from Chris Pfeffer (Torrington, Conn.) and a Yeshiva attacking error.

Albertus dominated the second set as the Falcons went on to win 25-8. Yeshiva did not record a kill in the second set as they recorded 26 attack attempts.

The Falcons earned a 25-16 win in the final set led by six kills from Brinton and five kills from Charamut. In that set, Torres dished out 11 assists as the Falcons recorded 16 kills in 26 attempts.

Brinton finished the match with 11 kills, three service aces and three digs.

Albertus recorded four blocks on the afternoon and 39 digs, while Yeshiva registered six service errors.
