Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) registered 15 kills to lead the Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team to its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory in program history as the Falcons shutout Emerson 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-19) on Tuesday night in Boston.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 12-3 on the year and move to 1-3 in GNAC action. In all 12 wins for the Falcons in 2012, Albertus has shutout its opponent by 3-0 scores in each match. The loss drops Emerson to 7-8 on the year and 2-4 in league action.

Charamut, who was named GNAC Player of the Week on Monday, tallied 15 kills in 34 attempts, while he added eight digs and five assists.

The Falcons opened the contest with a 25-19 win led by seven kills from Charamut. Emerson took a 3-1 lead to begin the first set before the Falcons tied the game at four. Albertus took a 7-5 advantage but Emerson battled back to tie the game at nine. Later in the set, Albertus put together an 8-1 run to take their largest lead of the frame at 17-10 before cruising to the six-point win.

The second set saw the Falcons take a commanding 25-18 win as the Falcons registered a match-high 17 kills in the set. The Falcons clinched the set victory with a solo block from Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.), his first of the night.

Albertus took another 25-19 win in the final set to clinch the program's first-ever GNAC victory in four seasons.

Charamut led the way with seven kills in 13 tries in the final set for the Falcons. He hit .462 in the frame as well.

Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico) dished out 34 assists for the Falcons, while he added four digs on the night.

Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) tallied 11 kills in 21 attempts as he recorded his second match of the season with a double-digit kill effort.

The Falcons, who are currently in their best season in program history, will return home to host Emmanuel on Thursday night in a 7:00 p.m. GNAC match-up.
