Falcons Shutout Purchase 3-0

The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team downed Purchase 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-16) in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Led by Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico) with 10 kills, the Falcons move to 14-4 on the year.

Torres finished the contest with 10 assists and 11 digs to go along with his 10-kill effort.

Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) dished out 22 assists for the Falcons, while he added four kills and five digs. Matthew Brancaccio (West Haven, Conn.) tallied five kills and recorded one service ace for the Falcons as well, while Chris Pfeffer (Torrington, Conn.) added six kills and seven digs.

Albertus recorded 15 kills in both the first and second sets to cruise to the 3-0 victory. Despite recording 23 hitting errors in the match, the Falcons were able to win their program-best 14th match of the season.

Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) contributed with six kills in 11 tries, while Daniel Valmont (Orange, Conn.) added three kills and two digs. Tyrone Bryan (Bridgeport, Conn.) tallied five digs for the Falcons, while Alejandro Esquivel (New Haven, Conn.) had four. Freshman Conor LaHiff (Fairfield, Conn.) recorded one dig and one service ace for the Falcons as well.

Purchase's Taylor Edelmann dished out 10 assists on the afternoon and added five digs for the Panthers.

Albertus will host Mount Ida on Tuesday night, March 27 in a 7:00 p.m. GNAC match.
