Falcons Fall in Close Match at JWU 3-0

The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team fell in a close 3-0 match to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Thursday night.  The Falcons fell 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.

The Falcons fall to 7-5 on the year with the loss, while JWU improved to 11-8 on the year. Albertus is now 2-4 in league play, while the Wildcats are 3-3.

Raul Rivera Rojas (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) paced the Falcons with 10 kills and three blocks, while Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) handed out 23 assists to go along with three kills.

The Wildcats were led by Shawn Kennedy with 14 kills and eight digs.

Raymond Torres (Cantano, Puerto Rico) led the Falcons with six digs.  Albertus hit .144 on the night with 32 kills in 90 attempts, while JWU hit .278 with 42 kills in 79 tries.

Albertus will turn right around and host CCNY on Friday night in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m. in New Haven.  The Falcons will have Saturday off before hosting a GNAC tri-match featuring the sixth-ranked Rivier University as well as Emmanuel College beginning at 11:00 a.m. in New Haven.
