Falcons Fall to JWU 3-1

Johnson & Wales came from behind to win three-straight sets to take a 3-1 victory over the Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team on Thursday night in New Haven, Conn. The Wildcats lost the first set 25-16 before securing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory with set wins of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-19.

The loss moves the Falcons' overall record to 8-9, while they move to 2-8 in the league.  JWU improves to 14-9 overall and 6-4 in the GNAC.

Shawn Kennedy and Ryan Kennedy both recorded 11 kills apiece, while Shawn Kennedy added 15 digs.  J.J. Bessette dished out 41 assists, while adding seven digs to lead the Wildcats. Alex Viera added 10 digs.

Raul Rivera Rojas (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) led the Falcons with 17 kills in 40 attempts.  Raymond Torres (Catano, Puerto Rico) dished out 27 assists, while Rojas added 11 digs.  Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) added 11 digs and five kills.

JWU posted double-digit kills in each set of the night as the Falcons struggled offensively throughout the night.

Albertus will head to Mount Ida for a GNAC tri-match on Sunday afternoon.
