The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team improved to 11-10 on the year with a 3-0 blanking of Anna Maria College on Thursday night in Paxton, Mass.  The Falcons won three-straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-19 to secure their fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match victory of the season.

With a 5-9 record in league play, the Falcons look to the final day of regular-season competition on Saturday when they head to Boston for a trimatch between Lasell and Emerson.  Albertus, currently in sixth place in the GNAC standings, is battling to finish the regulars season in the top-6 of the conference to earn the right to play in the GNAC Tournament, which is set to begin on Tuesday.

On Thursday night, the Falcons were led by Raul Rivera Rojas (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) with eight kills, six service aces, and three digs.  Raymond Torres (Cantano, Puerto Rico) handed out 23 assists on the night, while Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) had a team-high five digs in the contest.

The loss for the AMCats dropped their record to 1-18 on the year and 0-14 in league action.

Jonathan Gallardo led the AMCats with seven kills, while Matthew Kozlowski had 12 assists.

In the opening set, the Falcons stormed out to a 10-3 lead before a timeout by the AMCats sparked a 7-3 run to make the score 13-10 in the Falcons' favor.  The three-point lead was the Falcons' smallest of the set as they used a 12-4 run to secure a 25-14 dominating victory.

The second set was much closer despite a 10-3 advantage out of the gates for the Falcons once again. The AMCats battled back to tie the game at 19 before regaining their composure to take a 25-22 set victory.

In the final set, Anna Maria led 14-9 before the Falcons went on a 6-1 run after a time out sparked by three-consecutive service aces by Rojas.  With the match tied at 15, Albertus finished out the set with a 10-4 run to win 25-19.
