Lady Falcons Drop Heartbreaker in Overtime 68-65

Henniker, NH - New England College guard Jenny Bronson (Morgan, Vt.) finished with the team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds leading the Pilgrims past the visiting Albertus Magnus Falcons 68-65 in overtime Sunday afternoon.  NEC led for much of the opening half as they built a 15-9 lead ten minutes into the game. The Lady Falcons battled back knotting the game at 17-17 at the five minute mark but the Pilgrims closed the half on a 12-4 run heading into halftime up 29-21.  The Pilgrim offense exploded early in the second half building their largest lead of the afternoon up 44-31 with 11 minutes remaining in regulation.  The Lady Falcons did not go down without a fight as they went on a 6-0 run cutting the Pilgrim lead to just 50-48 with 35 seconds on the clock.  Freshman guard Shanilya Bush (New Haven, CT) forced overtime as she hit a jumper to convert on a foul shot with eight ticks on the clock tying the game at 54-54.  The two teams exchanged baskets early in overtime but in the end NEC who eventually prevailed, shot 8-for-10 from the foul line in overtime to solidify the 68-65 overtime victory.  NEC's Rachel Williams (Chapel Hill, NC) finished the game with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Leading the way for the Falcons was senior forward Krystal Bryant (New Haven, CT) who finished with a game-high 29 points and game high 15 rebounds.  Shanilya Bush finished with nine points for the Lady Falcons. NEC improves to 2-4, while Albertus drops to 1-6, 0-0 GNAC.  The Lady Falcons travel to Mitchell College on Tuesday for a 5:30pm tip-off.
