Falcons Drop 72-64 Decision to Simmons College

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Basketball team couldn't overcome a late second half run by visiting Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Simmons College on Tuesday night.  Simmons used a 6-0 run with under two minutes to play to earn the hard-fought 72-64 victory.

The Falcons battled all night taking a 38-38 tie into halftime.

Simmons opened the second half on a 7-0 run which the Falcons battled back to within one possesion midway through the second half.  Albertus received another balanced scoring attack with all five starters scoring in double digits.  Senior forward Bianca Brown (West Haven, CT/Career) scored a team high 16 points and had a game high 12 rebounds including three blocks.  Junior forward Katelyn White (Enfield, CT/Fermi) added a double double of her own with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists.  Freshman guards Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, CT/Lyman Hall) and Lianna Carerro (Hamden, CT/Hamden) each scored 12 points and 13 points respectively.  Sophomore guard Shanilya Bush (New Haven, CT/Wilbur Cross) added 11 points and a team high six assists.

Simmons received strong play from sophomore forward Emily Thomas (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) as she scored a game high 24 points and had a team high 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks.  Sophomore guard Liz O'Connor (Milton, MA/Milton) added 16 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.

Albertus drops to 8-11, 2-6 GNAC while Simmons improves to 9-12, 4-6 GNAC.

The Falcons travel to GNAC opponent Rivier College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
