Falcons Cruise to Third-Straight Win; Down Anna Maria 64-46

The Albertus Magnus women's basketball team won their third-straight game to improve to 13-3 overall and 3-2 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Falcons downed Anna Maria 64-46 on Monday afternoon.

After going into the halftime break with a 26-25 lead, Albertus held Anna Maria (4-13, 0-4 GNAC) to a 19.4% shooting performance in the second half. The Falcons outscored the AMCats 38-21 in the second frame en route to the victory.

Kendrea Walker (New Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons with 13 points off the bench, including 11 in the second frame, as she shot 4-of-9 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. The senior added nine rebounds to her tally as well.

Freshman Olivia Sutherland (Wallingford, Conn.) added eight points, while junior Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) had 18 in 34 minutes. The Falcons also received 16 points from Annie Sutila (Bridgeport, Conn.), who hit five 3-pointers.

Albertus opened the contest with a 13-2 run to take control of the contest early on but the AMCats battled back to make it a close game. To open the second half, the Falcons put together a 13-3 run and eventually cruised to victory. Both teams combined for an 11-of-54 showing behind the arc.

The Falcons are now 8-4 all-time against the AMCats.

Albertus returns to action on Wednesday night when the Falcons host Lasell in GNAC play at 7:00 p.m.
