Junior Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

In three victories for the Falcons on the week, Carrero tallied an average of 31.3 points per game, while she shot 49.3% from the field and added 3.7 rebounds per game. In the Falcons' 75-73 win over Norwich, Carrero registered a career-high 46 points on 16-of-25 (64%) shooting from the floor.  She was 3-of-3 behind the arc and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.

In the Falcons' 71-58 win at Lasell, the junior tallied 30 points, three assists and three rebounds. With her effort on the week, Carrero has posted 30 or more points in four of the Falcons' last six contests.

Carrero's 46-point effort marks the most points scored in a single game for an Albertus Magnus women's basketball player since Denise Brace scored 40 points on Dec. 29, 1996. Carrero is now fourth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with her 46 points in a single game as Stacy Manfredi from Saint Joseph (Conn.) scored 54 points on Feb. 21, 1998.

Carrero is also the first GNAC player to score over 40 points in a single game since Therline Dumeran from Pine Manor registered 41 points on Nov. 17, 2011.

Carrero will lead the Falcons in their next match-up on Wednesday night at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Conn. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
