The Albertus Magnus women's basketball team dropped a 60-53 decision to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Thursday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

Albertus falls to 3-16 overall and 0-5 in the GNAC standings, while JWU improves to 6-12 on the year and 3-2 in league action.

Senior Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) was the only Falcon to register double figures as she finished with 22 points in 37 minutes of work.  She added five rebounds and three assists.

The Falcons shot poorly in the opening frame, going into the break shooting 22.2% from the field. Despite the offensive struggle in the first half, the Falcons held a one-point advantage at intermission.

With help from a 12-1 run late in the second half to come from behind to take a 56-48 lead, JWU continued on its run and never looked back.

JWU shot 37.7% from the floor in the second half to outscore the Falcons 32-24.  The Wildcats' largest lead of the game came with three minutes left in the contest as they held a nine-point lead. In tonight's contest, there were also 13 lead changes.

Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) finished with eight points, while Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) and Annie Sutila (Bridgeport, Conn.) added seven points apiece.

JWU was led by 11 points from Natalie Dicocco and Kaitlin Kenney. Valerie Arce added 10 points for the Wildcats.

Albertus will return to action on Saturday in Standish, Maine in a 12:30 p.m. contest against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks.
