Carrero Named to 2014 D3hoops.com All-Northeast Team

Senior Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team has been named to the D3hoops.com 2014 All-Northeast Regional Third Team, as announced by D3hoops.com on Monday. 

Carrero, who was most recently named the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year, is currently second in the nation (Division III) in points per game with a 25.2 average.  She is the only Academic All-American in Albertus Magnus College history and has earned that recognition the last two years.

Carrero earned numerous GNAC Player of the Week honors throughout the year and led the conference with 25.2 points per game and a 41.1 three-point shooting percentage. 

She was also named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team for the second-straight year, while it was her third year earning GNAC All-Conference Team honors after being named to the Third Team as a sophomore. 

Throughout her career, she led the Falcons each season with in total points and points per game.This past season, she became the program's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Natalia Perlaza's '05, as Carrero finished her career with 1,905 points.

Haley Kanner, a junior forward from Tufts University, was named the Region's Player of the Year, while her coach, Carla Berube, was honored as the region's Coach of the Year. Forward Alycia Rackliffe of Framingham State was honored as the Northeast Region Rookie of the Year.

Norwich's Aliah Curry earned Fourth Team honors as she joined Carrero as the only two players selected from the GNAC.
