Cobleskill, N.Y. – Junior guard Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) scored a career-high 29 points to lead the visiting Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team past SUNY Cobleskill, 87-80, in double overtime in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Iorio Gymnasium.

With their second straight win, the Falcons improve to 3-3 on the year, while the Fighting Tigers dropped their second contest in a row to fall to 1-3 overall.

The back-and-forth contest saw 20 ties and 17 lead changes. The Falcons erased a nine-point second-half deficit to earn their first road win of the winter. The visitors had their largest lead of the tilt, seven, late in double overtime.

Trailing by three with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, Albertus sophomore forward Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) knotted the game at 67 with an old-fashioned three-point play. She knocked down a shot and jarred the free throw to force overtime.

Looking at a late deficit once again in overtime, Falcigno drew a foul with just five second left on the clock and hit a pair of free throws to force another extra frame.

In double overtime, Albertus Magnus outscored SUNY Cobleskill, 11-4, to escape with the victory. The Falcons started the deciding frame on an 8-2 run, courtesy of five points from Falcigno and three from senior point guard Olivia Sutherland (Wallingford, Conn.), and never looked back.

Falcigno led the Falcon attack, scoring in double figures for the third time this season. The 5-7 transfer also added eight rebounds and two steals. Bolden was a force in the post for Albertus Magnus, registering a double-double thanks to 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) had another quality outing for the guests, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go along with four boards, three assists and two steals. Off the bench, sophomore guard Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) and freshman Deja Ward (Middletown, Conn.) each added eight points apiece.

SUNY Cobleskill had a balanced offensive attack, with three players scoring in double figures. Ashley Creighton led the way with 21 points, while Shiann Coons added 19 and Shelby Preston netted 18. Preston had a big game on the boards, pulling down a game-high 21 rebounds.

Albertus Magnus returns to action after the Thanksgiving holiday break with a road non-conference clash versus Medgar Evers on Tuesday, December 1, at 7:00 pm.
