Purchase, N.Y. – The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team closed out the 2015 calendar year with an 80-67 setback at Manhattanville in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Kennedy Gym. The Falcons see their five-game winning come to an end with the loss as the squad moves to 6-4 on the year, while the Valiants won their second straight to improve to 6-2 overall.

Albertus Magnus sophomore forward Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) recorded her second double-double of the winter, thanks to scoring a season-high 32 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The 5-10 post player was a force in the paint, shooting just under 62 percent from the field (11-of-18) and converting 12-of-18 free-throw attempts.  Senior forward Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) and junior transfer Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) were the other Falcons to score in double figures. Pendagast knocked down 5-of-8 shots from the field for 11 points and Falcigno poured in 14 points to go along with a game-high four steals.

Manhattanville was led by senior guard Bri Pabon with 28 points, nine assists and three steals. Pabon set the pace and tempo for the hosts all afternoon, hitting 13 shots from the floor and fueling the team's transition game. Classmate Ashley Raaf poured in 16 for the Valiants and freshman forward Kayleah McGuire provided a spark off the bench with 16 points and six rebounds.

Albertus Magnus got off to a quick start, jumping out to an early 11-0 lead. During the first five minutes of action, AMC caused three turnovers and Manhattanville missed its first eight shots from the field. After a layup from Ashley Franklin put the Valiants on the board nearly six minutes into play, the hosts ended the quarter on a 12-7 run to pull within five at 19-14 after the first 10 minutes.

In the second quarter, Manhattanville outscored Albertus Magnus, 22-9, to take a 36-28 lead into the break. In the frame, the Falcons shot just 18 percent from the field (3-of-16), including 0-for-5 from three-point range, as the Valiants battled back to take a lead they would not surrender.

In the second half, the two squads played hard, but Albertus was unable to come all the way back. After an early run in the third quarter by Manhattanville stretched its lead, the Falcons were unable to cut the deficit to single digits until late in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch, the Valiants converted on their final four possessions to escape with their sixth victory of the winter.

Manhattanville shot an impressive 56 percent (36-of-64) from the field and held the guests to just 39 percent (23-of-59) shooting. The Valiants outscored the Falcons, 52-40, in the paint and transition was a key with the hosts outscoring Albertus, 18-0, in fastbreak points.

During the team's five-game winning streak, Albertus Magnus shot over 34 percent (36-105) from beyond the arc and forced over 23 turnovers per tilt. In the loss against the Valiants, the team knocked down just 1-of-11 shots from three-point range and forced 16 turnovers. In AMC's four losses this year, the squad has shot a combined 4-of-37 from deep.

Albertus Magnus returns to action after the holiday break with a home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash against Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, January 5, at 7:00 pm inside The Nest. After the 19-day layoff, the Falcons will look to snap a two-game skid versus the Wildcats in the conference opener for both squads.
