Albertus Magnus Women’s Basketball Runs Skills Clinic for Stratford Police Activities League

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Throughout the year, the individual teams of the Albertus Magnus College Athletic Department have participated in various community service projects, designed to broaden the student-athletes' perspectives and give back to the community to which they belong. This year, the women's basketball team followed tradition and gave back to their community by volunteering their time with the Strafford Police Activities League (PAL).

The women's basketball team volunteered to run a free basketball clinic for girls in grades 3-10 in the PAL. Throughout the clinic, the Falcons taught the girls basketball techniques such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, and also organized fun games for the girls to play to improve their skills, including the popular basketball games Knock-out and Dribble Tag, as well as Sharks and Minnows. The clinic attracted upwards of 30 players seeking to improve their skills, and also garnered the attention of Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick.

"We always want to give back to the youth and help teach them the game of basketball, and hopefully encourage and influence them to continue playing basketball as they continue on in life," said women's basketball head coach JR Fredette.
