WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. 

Murray-Leach led the Falcons over their two games this week with 24.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 60.6% (20-for-33) from the floor and 50.0% (5-for-10) from behind the arc. The rookie began the week with her first-career double-double, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six steals in AMC's 81-50 win over Anna Maria College on Wednesday. Murray-Leach then posted a season-high 28 points and seven rebounds to guide Albertus to an 84-67 victory over Rivier University on Saturday.

The women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, Dec. 14, for a home non-conference tilt against Montclair State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
