WINTHROP, Mass. - For the second consecutive week in a row, freshman Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Murray-Leach averaged 20.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 5.2 steals in a 1-1 week for the Falcons, while shooting 46.9% (15-32) from the floor, 55.6% (10-18) from behind the arc, and 33% (1-3) from the charity stripe. She had 13 points and five steals in a 77-67 loss to Montclair State before tying her season-high with 28 points (10-15 FG, 7-9 3PT, 1-3 FT) with three steals and three boards in 58-57 road win over Mitchell.
The Falcons will next hit the road to play the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The GNAC contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Wildcat Center in Providence, R.I.
