
WINTHROP, Mass. – After scoring a game-high 29 points to lead Albertus Magnus College women's basketball to a season-opening 85-71 win over Farmingdale State College on Saturday, Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Today marks the third that Murray-Leach has been named the GNAC Player of the Week in her young career after she earned the honor twice as a freshman in 2021-22.
Murray-Leach paced all players on Saturday with 29 points on 12-for-25 (48%) shooting from the field to guide the Falcons to a season-opening road victory. The sophomore also recorded nine rebounds (six offensive), five steals, two blocks, and an assist to round out her impressive stat line. Murray-Leach also scored a game-high nine points in the fourth quarter to help AMC turn a three-point third-quarter lead, 58-55, into a 14-point victory.
The Albertus women's basketball team continues non-conference play on Thursday, Nov. 17, with a 7 p.m. road tilt against the Golden Bears of Western New England University in Springfield, Mass.
