NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for her performance this past week. It is the second time this season she has earned this honor.
Murray-Leach was dominant in the paint for the Falcons this past week, averaging 20 points with 14 rebounds in an undefeated week in conference play.
The Norwalk, Conn. product put up 19 points and nine rebounds in a home victory over Emmanuel while collecting two steals defensively. She followed up her performance with a monstrous 21 point, 19 rebound double-double in a huge home victory over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), helping extend the Falcons' win streak to five.
Murray-Leach has recorded 10+ rebounds in 10 games this season and now has nine double-doubles which ties her for first in the conference in that category. She also currently sits second in the GNAC, averaging 9.4 rebounds per game.
The Falcons head back on the road to play Anna Maria on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
