Jackie Beck Named Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach

Albertus Magnus College Director of Athletics, Jim Abromaitis, has announced the hiring of Jackie Beck as its first men's and women's head golf coach. The newly established golf programs will begin as club sports during the 2014-15 academic year and then compete as Division III programs.

Beck brings to the position a strong knowledge of the game as a player and teaching professional. She played her collegiate golf at Illinois State University and is a member of the University's Athletic Hall of Fame. She is also a former teaching professional at Innisbrook Resort in Tampa, Fla. and is currently a coach for the First Tee of Connecticut at Alling Memorial Golf Course.

"We are excited to have Jackie onboard as our golf coach for our new men's and women's programs," said Abromaitis. "Her knowledge of the game combined with her enthusiasm for the sport and college athletics will be a positive fit for the program and our student-athletes."

Beck has worked in the golf industry her entire career. She was a marketing executive for Spalding Sports for 12 years and currently has her own golf marketing and public relations business.

"I am very excited to be part of the college's newly created golf program," said Beck." It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to build a competitive golf program with talented golfers and student-athletes representing this fine college community."

Beck resides in Old Saybrook, Conn. with her husband and three daughters.

Albertus Magnus is a Division III member of the NCAA with 12 varsity sports competing within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The golf programs will begin at the club level and will eventually become the college's 13th and 14th athletic programs, respectively.
