Women’s Ice Hockey Draws with Anna Maria, 2-2

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team tied the AMcats of Anna Maria College on Friday evening, 2-2. In the shootout, Anna Maria took home the win, 2-1. 

Isabella Contreras (Surprise, Ariz.) scored her first goal of her career while Tori Walsh (Marystown, Newfoundland) picked up her second career goal to tie the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The AMcats found an early lead, scoring at the 6:35 minute mark. The Falcons outshot the AMcats in the first period, 11-7, but were unable to even the score.

The second period remained scoreless. Falcon Goaltender Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) picked up 10 saves in the period, holding the AMcats at bay. 

Anna Maria scored its second goal early in the third period at the 2:46 minute mark, however the Falcons responded with urgency to tie the game up. 

At the 10:47 minute mark, Contreras turned the tide for the Falcons. Walsh tapped a pass as she was down on the ice to Kayla Clark (Avon, Conn.), who then took a shot that was tipped by Contreras into the net.

 

At the 17:41 mark, the Falcons did it again as Walsh scored to tie up the game on a power play. Clark fed a pass to Molly Martin (Buffalo, N.Y.) who then slotted a pass to Walsh. In a mob of players in front of the AMcats' goal, Walsh was able to slot one past the goaltender to score.

The game proceeded to a five-minute overtime period that ended scoreless.

In the shootout, the Falcons scored their final shot out of three from M. Martin. Anna Maria made the first and last shot, with the second shot being stopped by Johnson.
